What if aging is not a retreat, but a departure into a new and enriching phase of life?

As a psychotherapist and mother of an internationally distributed family, for me traveling through the world and to oneself, the relationship between the familiar and the foreign, inner and outer world, is a perpetual adventure, love and passion.
For where is our own and where is the foreign? What questions drive us, and what are our answers?
Starting with the question "How does one become the lover of life?", I tell the story of how my original childhood dreams in the deep Vorarlberg countryside of having an "international family" became reality.
Interspersed between individual, very personal and particularly impressive travel experiences in the USA, England, Andalusia, Morocco, India, Nepal, Cappadocia, Uzbekistan, New York and Mexico, I provide professionally sound essays on psychotherapeutic topics with basic information for laypersons and include various case studies from everyday therapeutic practice.
It is a matter close to my heart to talk about the possibilities and blessings of psychotherapy and to inform people about how important the balanced connection between the outer and inner worlds is for happiness, well-being, health and a fulfilling life, and what all plays a role in making this possible.
Additionally, I try to convey something of my personal experience within the complex interplay of different worlds. For example, I pay particular attention to the purposeless, "empty" period so necessary in today's era of "burnout syndrome," and—based on my decades-long love and passion for Oriental dance, Oriental high culture and way of thinking—to highlighting commonalities between often conflicting and competing worldviews and world religions.
